Blackhawks Extend Wyatt Kaiser; Connor Bedard Contract Talks Underway
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Wyatt Kaiser to a two-year contract extension and have started early discussions about a long-term deal with star forward Connor Bedard.
Bedard, entering the final year of his three-year entry-level contract, described the negotiations as relaxed.
“We’ve had a few conversations,” the 20-year-old said. “We’ve got a good relationship. It’s not something I really stress about or think about too much.”
Over two seasons with the Blackhawks, Bedard has tallied 45 goals and 83 assists across 150 games.
Kaiser, 23, secured a two-year extension worth $1.7 million annually. He contributed four goals and four assists in 57 games last season and has totaled 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) in 98 games since being drafted by Chicago in the third round of the 2020 draft.
The Blackhawks, who haven’t made the playoffs since the 2019–20 season, opened training camp with their first practice on Thursday.
