The American League Wild Card race is heating up, especially in the West. With a 7-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Texas Rangers pushed their win streak to six games and cut the Seattle Mariners’ lead for the final Wild Card spot to just 1.5 games. However, the win may have come at a cost — Adolis Garcia exited early with a quadriceps injury.
There was a bright spot, though. Alejandro Osuna, who stepped in for Garcia, delivered a clutch two-run single in the ninth inning that helped secure the win. Still, losing Garcia, a key power bat and RBI leader for Texas, could be a major blow as the playoff race tightens.
Bochy’s comments after the game raised concerns about Garcia’s status going forward.
“It never seems to end,” Bochy said via Rangers Sports Network. “He was playing really well. We’ll take a closer look tomorrow. It’s his right quad. That’s where he’s feeling it. We’re hoping for good news.”
Garcia, who went hitless before leaving after the top of the ninth, hasn’t had a standout 2025 season, posting a .685 OPS. Despite that, his ability to drive in runs makes him a crucial part of the Rangers’ offense — and his absence could be felt deeply in the days ahead.
