Blackhawks Secure Future on Blue Line by Inking Promising Young Defenseman to Two-Year Contract Extension Amid Ongoing Roster Reshaping

The Chicago Blackhawks announced Thursday that defenseman Louis Crevier has signed a two-year contract extension. The deal is a one-way contract with an annual cap hit of $900,000.

Crevier, 24, earned the extension after making notable progress during the 2024–25 season. While his game still has room for growth, he impressed many with his development and physical presence on the ice.

He set career highs in games played (32), goals (3), and points (4), and registered 70 hits—second-most among Chicago defensemen despite his limited appearances, and seventh overall on the team.

A seventh-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Crevier has steadily climbed the ranks, gaining experience in both the AHL playoffs and NHL regular season. With a competitive group of young defensemen in Chicago’s system, Crevier is expected to have a fair opportunity to carve out a consistent role in 2025–26.
