Alex Cooper Booed While Singing at Cubs Game Amid Viral 7th-Inning Stretch Performance
Alex Cooper, host of Call Her Daddy, faced an unexpected backlash during her appearance at the Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals game on July 6, 2025. Invited to sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the traditional 7th-inning stretch at Wrigley Field, the crowd responded with loud boos almost immediately after she began singing.
Cooper, 30, kicked off the performance with her signature flair, addressing the crowd and introducing herself on the Jumbotron. She was accompanied by two friends dressed in Cubs jerseys, who acted as backup dancers. Laughing between verses, Cooper sang in an exaggerated deep voice, while her friends danced behind her.
The performance, which quickly went viral online, was met with widespread criticism. Viewers and fans described it as “cringe,” “unfunny,” and “one of the worst things” they had seen. As Cooper hit the final note and her friends lifted her into the air, the crowd’s disapproval only grew louder.
Cooper has not publicly responded to the backlash.
The appearance came as part of a busy holiday weekend in Chicago for Cooper, who was promoting her new brand, Unwell Hydration. She hosted a private July 5 party at Recess Chicago featuring DJs Cash Cash and Dillon Francis, and even released a limited-edition souvenir jersey.
Just weeks before, Cooper’s Hulu documentary Call Her Alex had premiered, in which she accused her former Boston University soccer coach, Nancy Feldman, of sexual harassment. In a follow-up Instagram post on June 12, Cooper further alleged years of abuse and a lack of support from BU administrators.
Boston University responded with a statement reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy toward sexual harassment, noting it has resources and reporting procedures in place. However, Cooper’s story inspired others, including athlete Sophia Woodland, to come forward with similar accusations against Feldman, whom Woodland described as “a manipulator and abuser.”
Feldman has not publicly responded to the allegations.
