Veteran Wide Receiver Makes Triumphant Return as He Re-Signs With the Chicago Bears, Reigniting Hopes for a Dominant Season Ahead

After a disappointing 2024 campaign, Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore is being spotlighted by Pro Football Focus as a prime candidate for a strong comeback in 2025.

Moore, entering his third season with the Bears, saw a dip in production last year despite catching more passes (98) than in 2023. His total yardage dropped to 966 yards — nearly 400 fewer than his career-high 1,364 in his first year with Chicago. Still, with former Lions coordinator Ben Johnson taking over the offense and growing chemistry with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, expectations are high for a rebound.

In 2023, Moore thrived as Chicago’s top receiver, notching 1,385 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns. But inconsistency at quarterback and a revolving door of offensive coordinators in 2024 contributed to his downturn. He also faced increased target competition from Keenan Allen and rookie Rome Odunze. However, with Allen likely not returning and Odunze still developing, Moore is positioned to lead the receiver group again.

Johnson’s offensive scheme — which featured diverse receiver roles in Detroit — could unlock Moore’s full potential. Analyst Nathan Jahnke suggested Moore could take on a role similar to Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown, but with even more upside thanks to Moore’s size and speed.

Moore’s connection with Williams is also key. If Williams stays healthy and improves, this will be the first time in Moore’s career he’ll have the same quarterback playing substantial snaps in consecutive seasons — a major factor in his potential resurgence.

While the Bears’ offense isn’t yet elite, Moore could surprise fantasy managers as a high-upside WR2, with possible top-10 production if things click.
