Cincinnati Reds prospect Cam Collier is officially heading to Double-A — and he broke the news himself. In a bold move that thrilled Reds fans, the 2022 first-round pick took to social media to share his own promotion to the Chattanooga Lookouts, marking a significant step toward his big-league aspirations.
Collier, a powerful third baseman and son of former MLB player Lou Collier, was selected 18th overall nearly three years ago. Since then, he’s steadily climbed the ranks of the Reds’ farm system despite an injury setback earlier this year. A wrist injury during spring training delayed his start, but after a successful rehab stint with the ACL Reds and a productive run with High-A Dayton, the 20-year-old showed he’s ready for the next level.
In 11 games with the Dayton Dragons, Collier posted a .293 average and displayed solid plate discipline — enough to convince the Reds’ front office and scouts that he’s ready for Double-A competition.
Once surrounded by questions about his conditioning, Collier quieted critics by reporting to camp in top form. While some evaluators question his long-term future at third base, the Reds appear committed to giving him every opportunity to stick at the hot corner.
Now joining fellow 2022 draftee Sal Stewart in Chattanooga, Collier’s promotion could shake up the infield pecking order. If Stewart is moved to Triple-A Louisville in response, it would signal Collier’s rapid rise through the system.
As of his promotion, Collier owns a .258/.365/.417 slash line with 30 homers and 156 RBI in his minor league career.
The message is clear — Cam Collier is ready. As he simply posted:
**“Go time now.”**
