Frisco Police Fatally Shoot Knife-Wielding Man; Texas Rangers Leading Investigation
A 31-year-old man from Frisco was shot and killed by police on Thursday morning following a confrontation near Frisco Commons Park, according to authorities.
The man, identified as Logan Holliday, was the subject of a welfare check around 9:50 a.m. in the 8000 block of McKinney Road after a caller reported he was armed with a knife and had injured himself.
Officers located Holliday in a wooded area on the park’s north side. Police say that despite giving multiple verbal commands and attempting to subdue him with a less-lethal method, Holliday continued to approach officers while still holding the knife.
“Fearing for their safety, officers discharged their firearms to stop the threat,” the Frisco Police Department stated.
Police immediately performed lifesaving measures, and paramedics from Frisco Fire transported Holliday to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Per department protocol, the Texas Rangers are now handling the investigation into the incident. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the officers involved or disclosed how many shots were fired.
