Chicago Blackhawks Sign Defenseman Wyatt Kaiser to Two-Year, $3.4 Million Contract
CHICAGO — The Chicago Blackhawks have finalized a two-year contract extension with defenseman Wyatt Kaiser, ensuring his participation as the team begins training camp.
The deal, announced Wednesday night, is valued at $3.4 million over two years and clears the way for Kaiser, 23, to join the Blackhawks on the ice for their first practice scheduled for Thursday.
Kaiser enjoyed a productive 2024-25 season, setting career highs with four goals, 93 blocked shots, and 54 hits across 57 games, along with four assists. His defensive contributions and physical play have made him a valuable part of Chicago’s blue line.
Selected in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Blackhawks, Kaiser made his NHL debut in March 2023. The Minnesota native scored his first NHL goal on January 5, 2024, in a game against the New York Rangers. To date, Kaiser has accumulated four goals and 14 assists in 98 career games with Chicago.
With this new contract, Kaiser is expected to continue developing as a key piece in Chicago’s defensive corps as the team looks to improve after missing the playoffs in recent seasons
