Rangers Make Key Depth Move, Signing Veteran First Baseman to Minor League Deal in Hopes of Reigniting Offensive Spark

The Texas Rangers have continued seeking ways to ignite their struggling offense, and their latest move came on Saturday with the signing of veteran first baseman Rowdy Tellez to a Minor League contract. Tellez, who was recently released by the Mariners after hitting .208 with limited defensive impact, will now join Triple-A Round Rock and is expected to be in the lineup for Sunday night’s game against Sugar Land.

Despite his struggles overall, Tellez showed promise on the road with a .275 average and an .877 OPS, and the Rangers are hoping he can provide some production against right-handed pitching as they look for solutions at the plate.
