The Texas Rangers made a long-expected roster move on Saturday, reinstating outfielder Wyatt Langford from the 10-day injured list. In a corresponding transaction, infielder Justin Foscue was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Langford had been sidelined since June 25 (retroactive) with a left oblique strain—an issue he admitted had lingered for a couple of weeks before the team placed him on the IL. He played in one rehab game for Double-A Frisco on Thursday, going 1-for-3 with a home run, and rejoined the club in San Diego on Friday, though he didn’t appear in that night’s game. Saturday marked the first day he was eligible for activation.
This was Langford’s second stint on the injured list in 2025; he also missed time in April due to a right oblique strain. So far this season, the 23-year-old is hitting .232/.308/.421 with 13 home runs and 31 RBIs across 67 games.
Langford, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, debuted on Opening Day in 2024 and is in his second big-league season. With his return, the Rangers’ outfield is once again at full strength as the team continues a road trip that will take them into the All-Star break. Texas entered Saturday two games under .500.
Meanwhile, outfielder Michael Helman remains on the roster. He was called up in May after being designated for assignment by the Pirates and has appeared in three games for Texas, recording two walks, two runs, and a stolen base in limited action.
