A key figure from the Texas Rangers’ 2023 postseason run could be on the trading block as the MLB trade deadline approaches. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Rangers are reportedly open to dealing outfielder Adolis García, who still has a year of team control remaining but has seen a dip in performance.
García, remembered for his heroic grand slam during the 2023 ALCS, hasn’t matched that level since. This season, he’s batting just .232 with 10 home runs, and he’s projected to earn around $10.5 million in arbitration next year. While he remains a strong defensive presence, his offensive production has declined for a second straight year, raising questions about his long-term role in Texas.
Now 32 and turning 33 next March, García may have already peaked. With the Rangers sitting below .500 and trailing the Astros by 9.5 games in the AL West, the team may be forced to become sellers at the deadline if they can’t turn their season around quickly.
